Vonnegut & an Introduction.

"All this happened, more or less."
-Kurt Vonnegut, Slaughterhouse Five

Hi!
My name is Olaf and I like warm hugs. Wait, that's not right. I do like warm hugs, but my name is actually Dawn, and I'm not a snowman. I'm a twentysomething Bay Area resident who likes good beer, good books, and lying about her age.

And this is my blog! Originally, I came up with the objective of reading 100 books in 365 days, roughly one book every 3 1/2 days. Sadly, I am one hell of a procrastinator and here I am in February, with far less literature under my belt than I had originally intended. However, I'm always up for a challenge, and while I may not make my goal of 100, I think it's worth a shot, and I'll at least have fun trying (while my readers have fun watching my attempt)!

I also enjoy frequenting used bookstores because I'm poor, and will likely throw in a vlog or two along the way. Did I mention that I like beer? Sometimes I enjoy frequenting said bookstores after a few beers and spending way too much money on books that give me serious "What the hell were you thinking?" moments when I sober up. My literary tastes range from the classics to Westerns to self-help novels, so hopefully there will be a bit of everything for everyone who takes the time to visit this humble little blog to enjoy.

The first book I'm going to write about is A Year by the Sea by Joan Anderson. It was a quick read, but it's an emotional and thought-provoking one. Next will be The Brothers Karamazov by Fyodor Dostoevsky (I did warn you that my literary tastes were varied), and to follow that will be whatever looks best in my current pile of unread books.

So if you like the idea, please feel free to come back, tell a friend, leave a comment! Don't like my opinion? Debate with me; I'd love to hear it! I'm very much looking forward to this journey and those who join me on it.

Goodnight (or morning, evening, afternoon...wherever it happens to be where you are) for now; hopefully I will be updating and you will be reading again sometime before Monday!
